Museum
of the American Indian, Sun Dagger at Equinox, Chaco Canyon,
New Mexico
High
on Fajada Butte three large rock slabs lean against a cliff
face. In the shadowed area within, the Anasazi ancients
carved two spiral petroglyphs that are distinctively brushed
or bisected at mid-day by daggers of sunlight on the solstices
and equinoxes.
